A new defender for the Citizens?
Manchester City is looking for a defender who can play in and out of the side and has made a move for Manuel Akanji (27 years old, 36 games last season). Akanji is a year away from the end of his contract with Borussia Dortmund and has even turned down a contract extension.According to The Athletic, the Citizens could soon complete his transfer for a fee of around €17.5m. The Swiss arrived in 2018 from FC Basel for €21.5M, and will have played 158 games for the yellow and black shirt.
Todibo to replace Fofana?
Leicester is looking for a defender to replace the new Blues Wesley Fofana. And it seems like they are doing their market in France. Jean-Clair Todibo, the central defender of OGC Nice, is a serious possibility, as is Wout Faes from Stade de Reims.
What about the Blues?
Another massive transfer in defense?
After Wesley Fofana’s transfer, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reports on Twitter that Chelsea and RB Leipzig are in talks over the transfer of Josko Gvardiol. The 20-year-old Croatian who is under contract for another six seasons with the German club, is said to be the subject of a €90m approach from the Blues. But the English club would have to loan the center-back to RB Leipzig for one season if the deal is completed before picking him up in the summer of 2023. With already Koulibaly, Tiago Silva, Cucurella, Chalobah, Azpilicueta, and Reece James, are the Blues investing too much in defense?
Gallagher back to the Eagles?
Crystal Palace is hoping to secure the transfer of Conor Gallagher before the end of the 2022 summer transfer window. According to reports in The Times, the West London club has made an offer to Chelsea of around €32m. In our opinion, with the recent injury of N’golo Kanté, the Blues are unlikely to sell such a talented midfielder.
About yesterday’s gameWhat a challenging game! The pitch looked disastrous, and the conditions weren’t perfect. Congrats to Southampton, who made a brave match. We have now suffered two defeats in a row but let’s focus on the positive side: Sterling is on fire and definitively pushing the team at this start of the season.
